Once again this May museums in the East of England offered visitors an exciting array of free events through the Museums and Galleries Month campaign. The regional theme on China under the banner ‘China East – it’s not as far as you think’ inspired a colourful celebration of Chinese culture and traditions, including calligraphy, lion-dancing, fan making and tea drinking. Museums linked items from their collections imaginatively to the theme, exploring the multi-faceted influence of Chinese innovation on our way of life. Click on the link on the left for some examples of MGM events from around the region.
The theme for next year’s MGM has not yet been announced – as soon as it is, the Hub museums will start work on MGM planning for 2009. The hope is to involve wider museums in a coordinated MGM campaign for the region which the Hub will support. Further information on this and how to get involved will be added to this page in the early autumn onwards. If you have any thoughts or suggestions about MGM, or would like to let us know about your MGM programme this year, then please get in touch with Esther Morgan, Hub Communications Officer:
